Production AI Agents: What Enterprise Teams Get Wrong

AI agents promise to act on your systems, not just suggest the next sentence. Most programmes stall because they treat agents like chat widgets instead of software with owners, logs, and rollback.

Define the job, not the model

Start with a bounded workflow: inputs, outputs, human approval points, and failure modes. If you cannot name the owner when the agent misfires, you are not ready for production.

Layer controls before scale

Production AI agents need:

  • Identity and least privilege: service accounts, not shared admin keys
  • Audit trails: what the agent read, decided, and executed
  • Human-in-the-loop: mandatory for high-impact actions
  • Evaluation sets: regression tests when prompts or models change

Connect agents to transformation

Agents sit inside AI transformation, not beside it. Baseline the process, prove net benefit, then expand scope. That is the discipline we use in the CUBE Method and Transform programmes.
